Certified copies of vital records will be issued to:
- The applicant (person named on certificate)
- The applicant's spouse
- The applicant's mother / father
- The applicant's brother / sister
- The applicant's children / grandchildren
- The applicant's grandmother / grandfather
- The applicant's step-parent / step-children
Any person seeking information for legal determination of:
- Personal or property rights (proof required)
- An authorized agent, attorney, or legal representative of the applicant.
- Funeral Director/Licensee for death certificates

Enclose a copy of your state issued photo ID and documents to prove your relationship if no the applicant. Please enclose a self-addressed, stamped return envelope.

You may order online copies through our vendor Permitium and pay by credit card. You will need to submit a copy of your ID and other documents needed to prove your relationship. There is a convenience fee per transaction collected by the vendor. Nash County only collects the statutory mandated fee of $10.00 for each certificate.

Nash County participates in the Statewide Birth Certificate Issuance Program. This program enables residents to obtain a copy of a certified birth certificate for individuals born anywhere in North Carolina from 1971 to the present.
This option is not available for online request.
Cost for the service is $24 which includes researching the certificate in the North Carolina state registry and one copy of the certificate if found. Additional certificates from the same search are $15 each.
