The Nash County Citizens’ Academy is a free, eight-week program designed to give residents and local business owners and employees an inside look at how county government operates. Participants will meet with department leaders to learn about the services provided to the community and the role each department plays in supporting Nash County residents. The program also includes behind-the-scenes tours of Public Safety facilities, including the 911 Center and the Detention Center.
The Citizens’ Academy will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 PM to approximately 8:30 PM, beginning April 21. The program will conclude with a graduation recognition during the Board of Commissioners’ meeting on June 15. Dinner will be provided at each session. Space is limited, and early applications are encouraged.
Participants will be selected through an application process. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and either reside in Nash County or own or work for a business located in Nash County. High school students may participate if accompanied by an adult. To graduate, participants must attend at least five of the eight scheduled sessions.
